South Africa v Sri Lanka - 1992 World Test Championship - 2nd Round - Pretoria

Sri Lanka needed to survive roughly a day and a half for a draw, or to score 381 to pull of a surprise comeback win.
They started positively, and a half century to Hathurasinghe gave them some stability, but a mid innings wobble saw them stumble to 154/5, with South Africa still plenty of time left to force a result.
Jayasuriya and Tillekeratne dug in, adding 114 for the 6th wicket.
Wickets again started to fall steadily, with Sri Lanka slipping to 296/8 and victory seemingly in South Africa's grasp.
Gritty lower order batting frusrated them however, and the loss of 43 minutes to a shower during the last hour of play was the decisive factor in Sri Lanka escaping with a draw, 9 wickets down.
Their last wicket pair had added 16, and had needed another 21 to force a win, but the quality of South Africa's attack and the batting left meant it would have been a tough ask.
Snell had again been the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 7 wickets for the match.
In the end a match that had bubbled along without ever being exciting had sprung to life on the last day and provided an exciting finish.
South Africa would be disappointed their dominance hadn't resulted in a win, while Sri Lanka would feel pleased they had competed on mostly equal terms throughout much of the match.
South Africa take 15 competition points from the match, and Sri Lanka 7.
Man of the Match was Kepler Wessels for his match double of 160 and 81, top scoring for South Africa in both innings.
