1992 World Test Championship - New Zealand v India - 3rd Round - Match Preview

New Zealand v India - 1992 World Test Championship - 3rd Round - Christchurch

New Zealand host India in the final match of the 3rd Round at Christchurch.
India make 2 changes, with allrounder Ravi Shastri out injured and replaced as opener by Kris Srikkanth, and seamer Banerjee replaced by left arm spinner Raju.
New Zealand also make changes, with Ken Rutherford replacing Mark Greatbatch at number 5, keeper Parore replacing Smith, and seamers Watson and Sua coming in for the underperforming Thomson and Pringle.

Pitch: 45 - A ’green topper’ with help for the seamers early on. Once the excess moisture dries out there will be plenty of runs in the pitch, but later in the match the spinners may begin to find some grip, so winning the toss here poses its own problems. A good Test wicket this with  something in it for everyone.

Day 1 Conditions:
Pitch: 6 - Green Wicket
Weather: 9 - Rain forecast

New Zealand lineup:
B.R.Hartland, J.G.Wright, A.H.Jones, M.D.Crowe (c), K.R.Rutherford, D.N.Patel, C.L.Cairns, A.C.Parore (wk), M.L.Sua, D.K.Morrison, W.Watson

India lineup:
K.Srikkanth, N.S.Sidhu, S.V.Manjrekar, D.B.Vengsarkar, M.Azharuddin (c), S.R.Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, M.Prabhakar, C.S.Pandit (wk), S.L.V.Raju, J.Srinath

Toss: New Zealand

New Zealand won the toss, and with the pitch expected to deteriorate late in the match, elected to bat first, despite the green first day wicket.
