South Africa gained an important win to keep pace with the top sides after a bye and two draws had seen them start the season slowly.
New Zealand were never in it, quickly batted out of the game after subsiding for a disappointing 202 in their first innings.
Hudson made 180 and Kuiper 175 with 6 sixes as the South Africans piled on the runs.
New Zealand fared slightly better in their second innings, but 6-62 from fast bowler Allan Donald condemned them to an embarrassing innings defeat.
