New Zealand v Zimbabwe - 1992 World Test Championship - 5th Round - Dunedin
New Zealand host Zimbabwe in Dunedin in the first match of the 5th Round of the 1992 World Test Championship.
New Zealand have so far misfired with the bat, showing a heavy reliance on Andrew Jones, with Martin Crowe being inconsistent in the early matches.
With the bowling also struggling apart from a couple of good performances by Chris Cairns, New Zealand have so far failed to register a win.
This match represents an important chance for the home team to change that.
Zimbabwe have been dreadful so far, not threatening their opponents in a below Test standard start to the season.
Batsmen like Andy Flower and Dave Houghton have so far disappointed, but if they fire on the back of a bowling performance like that in the first innings against the West Indies an upset may be possible.
New Zealand make two changes to their lineup, bringing in batsman Rod Latham for seamer Willy Watson and bringing back Smith as keeper for Parore.
Zimbabwe are unchanged from the team that competed so gamely on the first day against competition leaders West Indies.
Pitch: 94 - A high scoring match is in prospect on this well prepared wicket which is likely to give the batsmen the upper hand throughout. Nothing for the bowlers to enthuse about until very late in the match when the spinners may begin to find the ball turning slowly as the surface wears.
1st Day Conditions:
Pitch: 1 - Good Batting Wicket
Weather: 3 - Sunny, some cloud about
New Zealand lineup:
B.R.Hartland, J.G.Wright, A.H.Jones, M.D.Crowe (c), K.R.Rutherford, R.T.Latham, D.N.Patel, C.L.Cairns, I.D.S.Smith (wk), M.L.Sua, D.K.Morrison
Zimbabwe lineup:
K.J.Arnott, G.W.Flower, A.D.R.Campbell, A.J.Pycroft, D.L.Houghton (c), A.Flower (wk), G.J.Crocker, E.A.Brandes, M.G.Burmester, A.J.Traicos, M.P.Jarvis
Toss: New Zealand
New Zealand won the toss, and with conditions perfect for batting early in the match, elected to bat first.
It seemed a priceless opportunity for a struggling New Zealand batting order to post a dominant performance against a mediocre attack.

Australia v India - 1992 World Test Championship - 4th Round - Adelaide
With time running out to force a result, and Allan Border feeling a declaration in the hope of an Indian collapse made pointless by the good batting conditions, the second innings of both teams was a largely pointless affair.
Allan Border racked up another largely meaningless century as the Indian bowlers simply ran out of ideas on a pitch that offered them nothing.
Upon reaching his hundred Border declared, leaving his bowlers a couple of hours to cause the Indians some embarrassment, but in 27 overs his bowler failed to take a wicket as the Indians easily achieved the draw.
Border was named Man of the Match for his unbeaten hundreds, the second player after Lara to score two hundreds in the one match this season.
Australia gained an important 12 points from the match, and India 8.

Australia v India - 1992 World Test Championship - 4th Round - India 1st Innings
Australia v India - 1992 World Test Championship - 4th Round - Adelaide
With the pitch remaining good for batting, India started their 1st innings confident of passing the their first target, the follow on target of 311.
They started poorly, slipping to 73/3, before a steadying 64 from the experienced Vengsarkar stabilised things briefly.
When he was out at 193, India were 5 down and 118 short of passing the follow on figure, with Tendulkar at the crease and only the lower order for support.
Tendulkar however compiled a wonderful hundred, and with Manoj Prabhakar posting a maiden Test century, India almost gained a first innings lead.
Allan Border was made to sweat and almost regret his declaration, as it almost cost his team first innings points, but in the end his decision was justified thanks mainly to good bowling by the persistent Hughes.
With the score 340/6 after 100 overs, India had gained 3 bonus points, and Australia 2.
Australia however gained the vital 4 points for a first innings lead.
Shane Warne really struggled, as he had against India in his maiden series in 1992, conceding over 150 for his 3 wickets.

1992 World Test Championship - Pakistan v Sri Lanka - 4th Round - Match Preview
Pakistan v Sri Lanka - 1992 World Test Championship - 4th Round - Faisalabad
Pakistan take on Sri Lanka in another mid table clash in the 4th Round of the World Test Championship.
Pakistan are unchanged from their early matches, with captain Imran Khan due to play his final test in this match and bow out of the tournament.
It remains to be seen what effect this has on the team, but other teams are in similar situations with some in form players due to miss out so it should be fair on everyone.
Sri Lanka make a few changes for this one, changing captains with Arjuna Ranatunga taking over from Aravinda de Silva.
Ramanayake replaces Ratnayake in the pace attack, while seamer Wijegunawardena is replaced by offspinner Madurasinghe.
Atapattu comes in at number 6 for Jayasuriya, while Kaluwitharana makes his debut as keeper in place of Tillekeratne.
Sri Lanka have had an up and down start to the season, and will be hoping to build on the momentum of their innings victory over Zimbabwe in the last round, but the number of changes to the side could make this difficult.
Pakistan meanwhile have struggled with the bat, with Javed 183 and Imran 168 in their matchwinning 312 partnership against New Zealand the only batsmen to pass 50 so far.
Pitch: 86 - A dry and grassless strip that looks good for plenty of runs, at least in the early stages. The lack of moisture both on the surface and below may mean that it will start to crumble at some stage and once it does batting will become progressively more difficult.
Day 1 Conditions:
Pitch: 2A - Dry and Grassless
Weather: 2 - Hot and Sunny
Pakistan lineup:
Rameez Raja, Shoaib Mohammad, Zahid Fazal, Javed Miandad, Saleem Malik, Imran Khan (c), Wasim Akram, Moin Khan (wk), Waqar Younus. Saleem Jaffer, Aaqib Javed
Sri Lanka lineup:
R.S.Mahanama, U.C.Hathurasingha, A.P.Gurusinha, P.A.de Silva, A.Ranatunga (c), M.S.Atapattu, R.S.Kaluwitharana (wk), C.P.H.Ramanayake, G.P.Wickremasinghe, M.A.W.R.Madurasinghe, S.D.Anurasiri
Toss: Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka won the toss, and with conditions good enough for batting on Day 1, and due to deteriorate late in the match, elected to bat first.
