1992 World Test Championship - Sri Lanka v England - 5th Round - Match Preview

Sri Lanka v England - 1992 World Test Championship - 5th Round - Kandy

Sri Lanka host England in Kandy in the 2nd match of the 5th Round.
Both teams have been inconsistent with the bat so far this tournament, so the result of this one is hard to pick.
Sri Lanka have shown a heavy reliance on the batting of Aravinda de Silva in an up and down start to the season.
England's best moments have come with the ball, their seamers performing well so far this season.
Both teams are unchanged from their last match.

Pitch: 65 - Moisture below the surface makes this wicket feel rather soft, and there is unlikely to be much life in the pitch early on. Once the drying out process is complete the ball should come more quickly onto the bat and that will be appreciated by the batsmen. However the spinners may find the wicket beginning to turn on the final day so batting last may see the worst of the conditions.

Day 1 Conditions:
Pitch: 7B - Ball keeping low

Sri Lanka won the toss, and with the wicket expected to favour the spinners late in the match, elected to bat first.
