Pakistan 'B' lost Aamer Sohail cheaply, but Shoaib Mohammad 57 and Rizwan-uz-Zaman 49 took the score to 100/1 before the 2nd wicket fell.
With Mike Whitney 4-49 and Peter Taylor 3-52 steadily working their way through the order and Merv Hughes claiming a couple of late wickets, Pakistan eventually only posted a disappointing first innings total of 247.
With the pitch expected to take spin on the 4th day, Australia 'B' elected to bat again with a 167 run first innings lead.
